About the event
Come
run in the "cheesiest" Half Marathon, Half Relay & 5K in
Wisconsin on Saturday morning, August 28, 2010 on a
course that traces the countryside of Calumet County from
Hilbert to Forest Junction & utilizing the Fox River Trail
on the return.
Again for 2010, the half marathon course is USATF-certified
(WI-09044-DM).
2010 Course
Map
Start & Finish Locations
Start and finish are on Main St Hilbert and allows friends and
family the opportunity to view runners and walkers.
The new half marathon course utilizes about 2.5 miles of
the Fox River Trail from Forest Junction to Ott Rd on the
return. The trail is primarily crushed stone. The
majority of the course is blacktop road, several blocks
of concrete in Hilbert and about 2 blocks of small gravel
roadway & some grass in Forest Junction. Both the 5K
& Half courses cross a single set of RR tracks on Irish
Rd. about .85 miles from the start & on the return.
Eligibility
All participants who have trained for a 13.1 mile footrace for
the Half Marathon are eligible to enter. Minimum age for
runners of the Half Marathon is 12. All participants
should be prepared to finish the race within four hours.
For safety, no pets, wheeled vehicles or wheeled means of
conveyance (i.e., bikes, skates, baby joggers) are
permitted in the half-marathon event. This event is
open everyone meeting the age requirement.
The
5K is open to all runners and walkers and there is no
minimum age. Please no pets. This event is open to
everyone and is family friendly.

Switching Races
Runners wishing to change from the Half Marathon to 5K
only (no refund of difference) after their entries have
been processed, may do so until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August
27th at the packet pickup. Those switching on race day will
be disqualified.
Chip Timing Pick-Up Info Both the 5K, Half
Marathon & Relay events are recorded using chips attached to the
entrants bib whether you are running or walking.
The
timing technology we are using is the MyLaps BibTag
system. The bib must be worn on the front chest at the start line & finish line
or you will not be recorded in the results.
They
may not be folded or crumpled. If so they could be
damaged and not work. We do not recommend wearing the bibs
on one’s shorts because it is easy to crumple a bib there.
Chips & bibs are yours to keep and do not have to
be returned at the end of the race. Those running the
first half of the relay must remove their bib/chip before
returning to Hilbert to avoid disqualification.
Packet Pick-Up Info
Packets will not be mailed. Packets must be picked up at
the Village Hearthstone Restaurant tent, 326 Main St,
Hilbert WI: • Friday, August 27, 5:00pm-8pm • Saturday,
August 28, 6:30am-8:00am • Packets will contain bib
number with attached chip. • Race packet may be picked up by third party if
copy of entrant’s I.D. is presented.
T-Shirts
All participants receive a T–shirt at packet pick-up
ONLY. No shirts will be mailed or delivered.
Extra $5.00 Charge for XXL sized shirts. You will be given the size
indicated on entries through August 20th applications.
Late and on-site applications will be filled as
first-come, first-serve and sizes are not guaranteed.

long sleeve "Rockstar" and 2006
"Fashion" t-shirts are available for a

or 920-427-4345.
Water Stations
There are 5 water stations irregularly spaced along the
half marathon course with Gatorade & water (please carry
your own energy gels). The first is about ¾ miles up
Irish Rd. The second is on Ott Rd at Irish Rd. These
first 2 you will also see on the return. The third is on
Church Rd near Cty HR. The fourth is in Forest Junction.
The fifth is along the Fox River Trail where it crosses
Center Rd. Then you see the Ott Rd & Irish Rd stations
again.
The 5K will utilize the one water station
on Irish Road.

It's Back Again for a 10th Consecutive Year!
Portsmouth Start 5k Run! What's a Portsmouth start?:
- Each
runner is assigned to a seeded "wave",
based on age and gender.
- The
USATF 5k "Single Age" Road
Race Records determines your "wave",
or seeding.
- The
clock "counts down", from a
pre-determined time. The runner(s) in the slowest
"wave" begin.
- The
clock counts up after reaching zero.
- Your
total time equals finish line clock time plus wave
start time.
- As
the clock continues to run, the next "wave"
starts at its predetermined time, and so on…
- Older
runners will be on the course as younger runner
"waves" begin.
- The
Portsmouth, or "wave" start
ensures that the runner who comes closest to his or
her "Single Age" USATF 5k
Road Race Record will be the overall winner.
- The
race REWARDS the best (or fittest) runner without
regard to age or gender.
- EACH
RUNNER HAS A CHANCE TO WIN.
